Dr. Denise Fleming’s career as an educator and business professional spans throughout California including but not limited to, University of California Los Angeles Campus, California State University San Bernardino, University of Redlands and Riverside Unified School District. Denise has spent over twenty years as a dedicated business professional in education and teaching students. In addition to her MBA she has a Doctorate in Education.

Dr. Fleming is an accomplished publisher, authoring papers on Human Resource Evaluations and “The Impact of Virtual Schools for At Risk Students” and has sat on many panels as a guest speaker.

Dr. Denise Fleming served our country for almost ten years in the United States Navy Reserves. She received many meritorious service awards while enlisted, including Sailor of the Quarter, and Good Conduct during her service in Desert Storm. During her tour she served at an Amphibious Base Force Command on March ARB and on special assignment with an Admiral on North Island Navy Base.

As a Moreno Valley School Board city wide elected official, Denise oversees a budget of hundreds of millions of dollars and payroll for a staff of over 3,000 employees. Since Dr. Fleming’s election to the school board the high school graduation rate has grown as much as 17 percent to almost 90 percent. The district has also experienced an increase of more than 50 percent in Multi Literacy awards from the Riverside County Office of Education in the last four years.

In addition, during Denise’s time on the Board the District has received an unprecedented amount of recognitions of excellence awards. 13 Golden Bell Awards for academic achievement from the California School Board Association. In the past three years, three Moreno Valley middle schools were listed as high performing model schools that demonstrate academic excellence, recognized by the California State Superintendent of Public Instructions.

Her experience with the Brown Act, Municipal and Educational Codes and other government policies has helped to earn her many awards and speaking engagements. She has spoken for Congressman Takano on Women Issues and has addressed many audiences across the state on issues regarding veterans, city governance, women in politics, community concerns and education.

Dr. Fleming was employed as a adjunct college professor and instructor for undergraduate and graduate courses in International Business, Psychology and Marketing. She is a realtor in the Inland Empire.

Denise sat on many nonprofit boards serving the Inland Empire communities including Care Connexus, an Alzheimer’s Daycare Center, Harvest Community Development Center, and PSN International. Harvest Community Development Center is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to strengthen and support individuals and low income families by fostering independence and promoting healthy families. PSN International is an outreach foundation dedicated to aiding cancer patients. As a hospice volunteer she assist patients and families who have love ones that are transitioning between life and death. Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley appointed her to In Home Support Services (IHSS) Advisory Board where she currently serves to assist the elderly and their caregivers with resources.

In addition, she sits on the Advisory Board for Parkview Community Hospital and is the Director of the African American Coalition which provides resources for minority residents in the cities of Riverside, Perris and Moreno Valley.

She received many awards and certificates for her dedication and service to the community including “Women of Distinction Award from the California State Assembly” and “Girls Rock” for her dedication to assisting our communities.

Her volunteer resume’ consists of aiding and assisting all veterans with food and purchases throughout the year, assisting the homeless, she participates in Toys for Tots, a member of the Soroptimist International of Moreno Valley who is an international organization of business and professional women united through volunteer efforts to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. She also facilitates and participates in many free employment and parenting workshops.

Dr. Fleming’s international and domestic travels include Africa, Italy, France, Spain, England, Israel, Hawaii, the Caribbean Islands and throughout the United States afforded her the experience of many different cultures. Her international and domestic knowledge will bring together the diverse community of Moreno Valley and assist with the development of a cohesive and productive community.

Denise is married to a retired U S Navy veteran and has two adult children and an adopted special needs child.
